The creative arts have been a part of Jill Ediger's lifestyle since an early age. An abiding passion for the fiber arts continued through multiple phases, culminating with the creation of a series of hand-sewn quilts. Photography was always in the background until the mid-1990s when Jill won a workplace photography competition that placed one of her images in major international offices of her employer. Additional inspiration was offered by travel to France in 2004 that coalesced into a series of images that received quite favorable comment by those who saw them. In a successful bid to expose her photography to a wider audience, two of Jill's images were published in the February 2007 issue of B&W Magazine. Since late 2009 her work has been seen in twelve invited or juried exhibitions in Atlanta and North Georgia. Color Magazine, in its May 2010 Special Issue, honored Jill with the publication of two of her images. The fall of 2010 saw her exhibiting in a two-person, 48-image, show in the Quinlan Center for Visual Arts in Gainesville Georgia with her husband Richard. Jill is equally facile in black and white, and color images. Her black and whites frequently have a classical composition while her color images are often more free-spirited. While Jill's photographic interests are varied, she does tend to explore a chosen topic at some depth, always striving to allow the innate beauty of the subject to shine through her prints. |
