New Members:
Kathleen Bjoran: returned to photography after college; worked as a commercial photographer in Chicago. When her daughter was born in 1985 (in Kansas), she threw all the chemicals out. Four months ago, she started submitting pictures again, and everything has been accepted. She is also a computer programmer.
Leanne Frank has been trying to be part of WIF for three years, but moved to Maryland and back in the meantime. She has always taken pictures, but in spurts; the current spurt has lasted five years so far. She designs software interfaces.

Digital Arts Studio (DAS) Artist’s Choice Show. Drop-off by 26 Sept. For their discount framing package ($47 for 16x20), drop-ff by 15 Sept. Takedown is 1 Nov., the same as for Art Station. $20 entry fee for this show is due tonight.
Send emails to Peter at DAS; he will send evites for the reception. Gittel will find out if our names can be listed on the evite.
Sign up tonight and next meeting for a free (no entry fee) WIF show at “Paint in the Pods,” Westin Hotel, 6 Nov. through 1 Dec. Deliver two or three (to be determined). (Gittel will find out about hours for delivery; parking is $8). Big pieces are encouraged.
The reception is a First Thursday, free food, discounted drinks. We can bring matted prints to sell. The timing allows reuse of pieces from Sept.-Oct. Shows!

Christi Helms’s daughter, Elsa, was born last week—date? She weighs 8.5 lbs; Christi did a water birth with no drugs.

October: Officer nominations for 2009. If you’re interested in being further involved, call current officers for more information. Feel free to nominate yourself.
We’ll also discuss who we would like to have as speakers and curtique judges in 2009; Cindy will bring a checklist of options, but suggestions are wildly encouraged. Denise Savage wants a field trip to Helen, Georgia.
November: vote on slate of officers, field trip
December: Holiday party and print exchange. There will be NO business at the party as voted on; we’ll discuss further plans next month.
